Shirley was born February 14, 1936 to Otto and Ruth (Miller) Sebastian in Norborne, MO. Shirley attended country schools and later graduated from Carrollton High School in 1954. While in high school she worked at Everette’s Restaurant in Carrollton. After graduating she went to work at Taylor Shoes in Carrollton. While working at Everette’s John Ewell Wood captured her heart and they were married February 12, 1956. They farmed in Carrollton together until 1965 when Wood Brothers Concrete Co. was formed. In 1967 they moved to Gallatin because of work at Lake Viking. After seven of her children were out of the home she went to work for Serve Link Home Health as a health aid for several years. Her patients were a real joy to her. She was known by many as someone who always had a smile on her face and a kind word to everyone. Her faith in God was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.

Shirley’s children were a great joy to her. Her grandchildren were especially important to her and brought her many, many smiles, and great grandchildren were the light in her eyes. They were what she kept living for, she felt so happy and blessed that they all lived so close and she saw them so often.

Shirley’s church family was also special to her. She was very involved in everything that happened and always willing to volunteer. This will be another place where she will truly be missed.

Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Otto Sebastian in 1947. She was also preceded in death by her step-father Robert Warren, her mother Ruth Warren, a brother Charles Sebastian, and a great grandson Tynus Loucks.
