Funeral services for Ruth Jarrett will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin.
Friends may call after 11 a.m. Thursday. Interment will be at Mt. Ayr Cemetery near Altamont Memorial contributions may be made to the Gallatin First Christian Church, Building Fund, or Regional Hospice, or Heartland Hospice.
Ruth Jarrett, 83, died Monday, Oct. 2, 2006, at the Lake Viking Health Care Center in Gallatin.
Mrs. Jarrett was born May 8, 1923, to Bert and Jesse (Pearl) Jarrett in Horton, Kan. In 1933 her family moved to Winston, where she graduated from Winston High School in 1941.
After high school Mrs. Jarrett moved to Kansas City where she was employed for several optical companies, including Gateway, Brock, and O.H. Gerry Optical. She served in the Optical profession for 46 years, retiring in 1988.
She was a member of the Gallatin First Christian Church and the Fairview Community Church.
Mrs. Jarrett was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Robert and Floyd.
Survivors include one sister, Lois Carter, Gallatin; and one brother, Harold Jarrett, Springfield.
