Too many Americans believe the threat to the U.S. began Sept. 11, 2001 when planes hit the World Trade Center in New York City and another hit the Pentagon.

Actually the attacks began in 1979 at our embassy in Iran and American citizens have been killed and wounded in several foreign embassies, and situations that developed in aircraft, the USS Cole, the Lockerbie, Scotland incident, etc., etc.

Eleven attacks were directly pointed at the U.S. during that same period, while there were 7,581 terrorist attacks worldwide. Why did these attacks occur? Because they envy our status in the world, our success and our freedom.

Who were the attackers? In every case they were Muslims who represent 25 percent of the world’s population. The Muslim religion is supposed to be peaceful. We need to remember that most Germans were peaceful but under Hitler (who was a Christian) that made no difference. While he kept the focus on the Jews, he killed anyone who got in his way.

It is the same with Muslim terrorists. No matter how many peaceful Muslims there may be, there is no protection for us from the terrorist Muslim leaders who seek to kill any and all who appear to be in the way. Could we possibly lose this war? What does losing mean? Well, we would no longer be the premier nation in the world. The attacks would not stop but increase. They want us dead, not just quiet.

They will continue to pick off other non-Muslim countries, one at a time. They already hold Spain hostage. It doesn’t matter whether it was right or wrong for Spain to withdraw its troops from Iraq. Spain did it because Muslim terrorists bombed their train and told them to withdraw its troops. They did. Now Spain is finished and the next to go will likely be weak-kneed France.

So who are we at war with? The honest answer is Muslim terrorists. Washington’s effort to be politically correct and trying to avoid facing this problem can be fatal. What might losing mean? We would no longer be the best nation in the world. We would not receive support from friendly nations for fear they might be next. France is already 29% Muslim… and fading fast.

Why are you seeing this column? Because the big-shot columnists in this country are not doing their job. Until we recognize the cost of losing the war on terror we cannot awaken Americans to the threat. Oh I know, I’m just a pea in a pod in the newspaper business but I also know we can lose a war by refusing to recognize a threat and their real purpose. We can lose this war, refusing to understand the enemy and the extent of their threat.

We had better be prepared to lose some of our civil rights temporarily than to lose all of them temporarily, or lose them forever. We are facing an enemy that likes to cut off tongues, cutting off hands, dragging charred American corpses through the streets. The Muslim goal is to kill all non-Muslims-and that means ALL non-Muslims, including United States citizens.
