Greg Brown informed the city council during their regular meeting held Wednesday, Sept. 13, that he and other families were trying to get football back into the Pattonsburg school district. He asked the city council if they would allow the use of the field for this purpose and might be able to help with things as they come up. The aldermen stated that they had no objection to the proposal at this time and just asked to be informed on the progress.
Lyle Warford was present on behalf of the letter he received from the city last month. His insurance company sent the liability report that was required from him and he spoke to the council about an extension until Nov. 1, 2006, to take care of the rest. The aldermen stated they had no objection to the extension.
The fire department asked if the city would close off 5th Avenue on Sept. 23 around 10 or 10:30 a.m. so the department could do its yearly inspection of fire houses. The board motioned to close off the said street.
Gene Walker moved to tentatively approve the 10 year contract with Farmers Electric Cooperative with a 30 day challenge. All citizens are welcome to stop by city hall during business hours and review the contract.
Gene Walker informed the council about the cost of rocks for the memorial for Mr. Graves. The rocks are $35 a ton with a $35 delivery fee. Council will look further into the matter to work something out with Judy Horton and individuals to help place and move the rocks.
Council watched an information video on the windmill system that the city had discussed putting at the pond at the end of Central Street.
Council reviewed and motioned to approve the monthly bills for September as presented.
The City council met at 7 p.m. on Sept. 13. Those in attendance were as follows: Dwight Schell, Gene Walker, Leonard Barr, Lonnie Luke, Mayor Mark Smith, Greg Brown, Lyle Warford, Dana Cameron and Ed Meador.
