Two Altamont women received moderate injuries in a one-vehicle accident at 140th Street, one mile east of Winston in Daviess County, according to a report by the Missouri Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred at about 12:17 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29, as Alleah Freeman, 18, Altamont, was northbound on Hwy. 69. She crested a hill and observed a wrecker on the shoulder, swerved to avoid it, and lost control on the wet roadway. The vehicle went off the left side of the road and struck a ditch.
Mrs. Freeman and a passenger in the vehicle, Beth Tanguay, 23, Altamont, were taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center. Both were wearing their seat belts.
The 1998 Ford Escort was moderately damaged and towed by Tarepin Wrecker of Winston.
The accident was investigated by Tpr. Bradley Maudlin, assisted by Cpl. R.A. Sherman, Trp. A.K. Griffin and the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
