Funeral services for J. Franklin Loyd were held Friday, Aug. 25, at Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Joseph. Interment was at Memorial Park Cemetery. A military service at the grave will be under the auspices of the Missouri Military Funeral Honors Program. J. "Junior" Franklin Loyd, 81, Gallatin, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, at his home.
Born May 12, 1925, in Vibbard, Mr. Loyd had resided in Wichita, Kan., most of his life.
During World War II, he served in the United States Coast Guard in the Pacific Theatre.
He had been employed as an avionics pre-flight technician for Beechcraft Aircraft for 35 years, retiring as a supervisor.
Mr. Loyd was a member of Brookside Baptist Church, Wichita, Kan.; and International Machinists.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helena (Frye) Loyd; his parents, John Junior and Pearl Mae (Cross) Loyd; and his granddaughter, Angela Loyd.
On June 24, 1978, he married Bobbi Williams. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include one daughter, Linda June (Loyd) Newell of Mulvane, Kan.; two sons, Steven Loyd of Gallatin; and Robert Loyd of Wichita; a brother, Robert Loyd of St. Joseph; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
