Funeral services for Eva Lloyd were held at the First Baptist Church in Maryville at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday), with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Maryville. Services under the direction of Price Funeral Home, Maryville. Memorials may be given to the Maryville First Baptist Church.
Eva Lloyd, 94, Maryville, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006.
Mrs. Lloyd was born March 9, 1912, near Jameson, to the late Hadley and Sadie (McNeely) Brown.
She graduated from the Jameson High School, from the Northwest Missouri Teachers College, Maryville, did graduate work at the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colo., and at the University of Kansas City (UMKC), Kansas City, where she received a Masters of Arts degree in English literature.
She taught rural schools in Daviess and DeKalb counties; elementary grades in Winston and Jameson; English at the Mound City High School; the Layfayette High School, St. Joseph; the former St. Joseph Junior College, St. Joseph; and at Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Maryville, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, president of the Women on Mission, and as church librarian. She was a member of the Gideon Auxiliary International, the Maryville Twentieth Century Club, a 55 year member of the Kappa Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma, HT chapter of P.E.O. Sisterhood and the Nodaway County Historical Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence (June 22, 2004); two brothers, Voris and Gilbert Brown; and by two sisters, Geneve Brown and Imo Brown.
Other survivors include one foster son, Steve Stasi, Henderson, Nev.; one brother, Donald Brown, Kansas City; and four grandchildren.
