The North Daviess R-3 Board of Education will host a back to school BBQ at 5 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, Aug. 23, at the high school. Open house will be held at the high school from 6-7 p.m. The elementary will schedule its open house and book fair from 7-8 p.m.
The tax rate hearing was held during the board’s regular meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 16, and the tax rate was set at $5.45.
In other business, the board learned that the district has gained an additional four students over last spring’s count.
Bills were paid as presented.
Ms. Kirby reported that the school was unable to secure a bid for the delivery of bakery products. The board agreed that bread be purchased at Hy-Vee by Mr. McCrary during the time he is waiting for the Career Center students to be dismissed.
The Annual Secretary of the Board Report was accepted.
The annual board/staff dinner will be hosted this year by the CTA and be held in the recently renovated agriculture education building. The date has been set for October 6.
The Ethics Commission Policy was adopted.
During administrative reports, Ms. Kriby reported on the following: Mr. Rush had obtained an enhancement grant to purchase a mig welder and to also upgrade textbooks for his courses. The district’s bus drivers will be joining with the Pattonsburg driver’s for their annual training which will be scheduled soon. A recent storm tore some shingles from the roof at the elementary school.
The board entered into executive session to discuss employee matters. Upon returning to regular session, a contact was offered to James Cool.
The next board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 18 at the High School conference room.
