Pattonsburg UMC Charge

Pattonsburg First Baptist
Matt Tanner is pastor. Sunday School attendance was 54. The morning message was taken from Romans 14:13-23. Sunday evening Rachel and Stephanie Carey from Kansas City shared with us about their July mission trip to Nairobi, Kenya. They also showed slides on the power point and questions were asked of the girls and detailed answers were given.
Tuesday at 1:30 is Northridge Bible study. Wednesday at 7:30 is prayer study meeting. Saturday, Aug. 26, is youth workers meeting from 10 to 12 noon with Stephen and Sarah Williamson and the youth directors of the association.
Hear how God is at work throughout the world. Attend the On Mission Celebration from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sept. 24 and at 7 p.m. Sept. 25-27. Katharine "Kate" Depew is a US/C-2 Missionary with the North American Mission Board serving in Sand Springs, Okla., with DaySpring Villa, a women’s shelter. Kate will be speaking in our Sunday morning worship service n Sept. 24. Monday through Wednesday, she will have speaking engagements in Pattonsburg during the day and will be at McFall, Winston and Coffey churches in the evening. Matt, Heather and Sarah will be hosting Kate during the On Mission Celebration.

Gallatin Presbyterian
Rev. Nordvall’s sermon "Being at Home with God" was based on Romans 5:1-11. The scripture was read by Tony Moore. Fallis Froman represented us at the district Presbytery meeting in King City on Aug. 12. Prayer concerns are for Eula Osborn, Georgia Owings, Ada Edwards, Kelly Eads, Isabelle Glaser, Barbra Macy and Virginia Kobett. Debbie Jenkins was hostess for the fellowship hour.
Fairview Community
Betty McFee and Jennifer Moore led music. Bro. John Stith read from Psalms 97. Sunday School concluded at II Timothy 3:17. Bro. Davis’ message was "Doer’s," from James 1:21-27. Special prayers were for Sue Pittsenbarger’s family and the family of Lloyd Bowman.

Opening scripture was from Psalms 121:1-8. Praise reports were given by Linda Lollar, Eva Hagger, and Nelda Carlson. Prayer request were for Bernie Cabra, Baby Braxton, Russ and Tammy Mobley, Larrie and Lonnie Terry’s sister, Clara Macrander, and Lonnie Terry. We were glad to have with us Nelda Carlson’s sister and her husband, and Mr. and Mrs. Stan Carlson from Nebraska. Stan blessed everyone with a couple of songs. Also with us was Mr. and Mrs. Travis Toney and daughter, and Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Lollar and family. We were glad to welcome as new members into our church Wayne and Zoe Smith. Brother Lint’s text was from Matthew 6:7-15, title of his message was, "Let us pray." Don’t forget to thank God for the nice showers that He has sent to us!

Rev. Paul Willard’s morning message was "God’s Promises," from Isaiah 55:6-11. Special music was "Ten Thousand Angels" by Elaine Bohannon. Aug. 27 at 10 a.m. is community church services in the Jameson City Park. The children’s bell choir opened morning worship. Bro. David’s Sunday morning message was "Little Children Come to Jesus," from Mark 10:13-16. Sarah Ishmael’s children’s message was "Working Together," from Acts 18:1-3. Bro. David’s Sunday evening Bible study was "The Spirit of Antichrist," from I John 2:18.

Seventh-day Adventist
Our Church at Study lesson this week was "1844 made Simple" with memory verse in Matthew 27:51. Pastor Mike Carner had our sermon entitled "The Problem With Suffering." Scripture reading was Psalm 86:15.
Next week our speaker will be Elder Don Johnson. Prayer concerns are for the families: Bonnett, Woody, Dale, Huffman, Weissenback, Muse, Walker, Welch, Springer, Mead, Wieand, and Galetti.

Pastor Russ Hamilton gave the message, "Love the Lord," based on I Kings 3:3-14 and John 6:51-58. Pastor Russ gave the children’s message at contemporary service, and Vera Nelson gave the message at traditional service. There was a special board meeting held during the Sunday School hour, and many were in attendance.

Bible study is at 7 p. on Wednesday. Working on quilts in the gathering area from 9:30 to 12 noon on Aug. 24. Congregational meetings is Aug. 27 after each service. Promotional Sunday and teacher recognition is Aug. 27. Join us at 9:30 a.m. for our annual Sundae Sunday event.

The message at the 9 a.m. service was "Go Fish, Part 5: Muddy Waters," from Romans 8:31-39. Joys were for Katie Moyer’s new baby and Jill Gooding’s health improvement.
At the 11 a.m. service the Psalter reading was Psalm 111. Jan Johnson was organist. Rev. Richard Parker spoke about school beginning this week during children’s time. He wished all the students and teachers well. We should grow in wisdom always.
The pastor read I King 2:10-12, 3:3-14 and Bob Aulgur read Ephesians 5:15-20. Rev. Parker’s sermon was on "The Beginning of Wisdom." Jane McKinsey reported on Relay for Life. The church camp site "Holy Grounds" served homemade cinnamon rolls, coffee and milk. Along with those sales, cookbooks that were sold and donations raised $700. Luminaries were sold in addition. We had a number of volunteers walking.
Remember Sept. 10 is Fun Day Sunday with breakfast served and a silent auction. Prayer concerns are for Shirley Wood, Rev. Roy Willis, Don Fenn, Cynthia Roberts, Katherine and Joe Snyder, Kaley Cox, Don and Carol Weaver’s granddaughter, Gina Dixon’s step-brother Rob, Clara Macrander and Helen and Edgar Muller.
Altamont Methodist
Sunday School lesson for youth and adults was "Body Building: We are Responsible For Build Up Other Christians," from Ephesians 4:1-16. UMW met at the church Wednesday with 10 members. Pastor Marilyn gave a video topic on "Women of Faith." Roll call was "A Favorite Woman of the Bible." Nine "thinking of you" cards were sent to shut-ins. Prayer needs were mentioned for Juanita Uthe, Pastor Gerald Green, Jo Myers, Laurie Walton-Roll, Clara Macrander, Shirley Wood and Marlene Allen. Our deepest sympathy to the families of Bill McKee and Lloyd Bowman.

Scripture reading was from I Peter 4:12-19. Dr. Ben Awbrey’s message the "Passover Feast" was from Matthew 26:17-29. Remember in prayer Natalie Kaufman, Homer McDaniel, Hal Robertson, Helen Gardner, Lori Neal, Betty Cameron, Frances Lowrey, Betty Plymell, Jackie Emerson and Mark Beyer.
