Two people received minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident at about 2:10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12, in Daviess County.

According to a report by the Missouri Highway Patrol, the accident occurred as both Elizabeth Kliewer, 22, Newton, Kan., and John Staddler, 59, Topeka, Kan., were traveling northbound on I-35. Around the 62 mile marker, Mrs. Kliewer struck the right rear of Mr. Staddler’s vehicle, which caused both vehicle to lose control. Mr. Staddler went off the right side of the road, struck a ditch, rolled, and came to rest on its wheels. Mrs. Kliewer’s vehicle went off the right side of the roadway and came to rest on its wheel.
Mr. Staddler and a passenger in his vehicle, Margaret Garber, 57, Kansas City, Kan., were both taken by Daviess County Ambulance to Cameron Regional Medical Center. All involved were wearing seat belts.
Elizabeth Kliewer’s 1991 Oldsmobile received minor damage and was driven from the scene. Mr. Staddler’s 2006 Hyundai was totaled and towed by Bridgeman’s Tow of Altamont.
The accident was investigated by Tpr. J.P. Lynch, assisted by Tpr. A.A. Henry, and Tpr. C.D. Primm.
