Fairview Community

Special prayers were led by Velma Wolf, Dixie Alexander, John Stith and Bro. Davis. Bro. John Stith read from Psalms 121. Sunday School concluded at I Timothy 6:21. Bro. Davis’ message was "Prayer," from Matthew 6;5-13. Special prayer requests are for Vern Bridgman, Rev. Gerald Green, Evelyn Landis, Juanita Uthe and Betty Huffman. Wednesday at 7 p.m. there will be a Sunday School/prayer meeting at Fairview.

Gallatin Presbyterian

Rev. Nordvall’s sermon was "Believing What He Has Promised," based on Romans 4:1-8, 13-15 and read by Chris Diaz. Prayer concerns are for Roy Worrell, Eula Osborn, Geogia Owings, Barbara Macy, Ada Edwards, Isabelle Glaser, Kelly Eads and Virginia Kobett. Geneva New was hostess for the fellowship hour.

Altamont United Methodist

We were blessed to have Deloris Read serve as our pianist in the absence of our organist Velma Talbott. Thirty-three people were present for services. Children’s time was "What a Joy for Families to be Together." Gospel reading was from John, "I am the Living Bread." Pastor Marilyn Dorst’s message was "Is Loving the Teacher Enough?" We appreciate everyone for filling our Relay For Life laundry basket.

Jameson First Baptist

Rev. Paul Willard’s morning message as "The Power of God," from Deuteronomy 8. Special music was "Jesus Gives Me a Song," by Leota Snyder. Aug. 19 at 8 a.m. is men’s prayer breakfast at Gallatin Baptist. Aug. 27 is community church services at the city park at 10 a.m. Everyone is invited.

Pattonsburg UMC Charge

Pastor Barbara’s sermon was "Many Gifts, One Spirit." Charge conference is Oct. 15 at 3 p.m. at Heath Chapel. Remember in prayer Jackie Emerson, Betty Plymell, Homer McDaniel, Betty Cameron, Georgia Williams, Hal Robertson, Frances Lowery, Mary Shipley, Garold McDaniel.

Pattonsburg First Baptist

Sunday School attendance was 48. The morning message was taken from Romans 14:1-12. Sunday evening at 6:30 is deacons meeting; 7 is Bible study and puppet practice. Tuesday at 1:30 is Northride Bible study. Tuesday is cookie day at the Lake Viking Care Center. Wednesday at 6 is on mission celebration committee meeting; business meeting is at 7:30. Favorite hymn day is next Sunday.

Rachel and Stephanie Carey, Kansas City, are coming next Sunday evening to share with us about their July mission trip with the Antioch Baptist youth group to Nairobi, Kenya. Following the program, a finger food fellowship will beheld. The girls are nieces of Craig and Rhonda Lambert.

Blood drive is from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 18 in the Baptist Church fellowship hall. Sept. 23 is on mission celebration rally at Bethany fairgrounds at 6 p.m. Sept. 24-27 is on mission celebration.

Gallatin First Assembly of God

God’s promise for us this week: "The Lord will watch over your coming and going, both now and forever." Praise reports were from Lonnie Terry, Claudell, Smith’s, and Gloria Lint. Tessa Lollar blessed everyone with a special song in our morning worship time. Brother Lint’s text was from 1st Corinthians 2:9-12, title of his message was, What has God revealed? After our morning service we had our birthday and anniversaries dinner.

Our Wed night word study will be Angel/Angels, we will be finding out who they are and what they do. Every Tuesday morning at 10 a.m., the ladies meet at the church for prayer. If you would like to join the ladies or need more information call Gloria Lint at 749-5789. Soon our children and grandchildren will be back in school, lets lift them and all the school staff up in prayer daily for a safe school year.

Gallatin First Christian

Pastor Russ Hamilton gave the message, "God’s Example," from II Samuel 18:31-33 and Ephesians 4:25-5:2. Ann Schweizer gave the children’s message at both services. We are starting the study of I Corinthians.

Prayer requests were asked this week for Jerry Burns, Colton Place, Joyce Dustman on the loss of her sister, Dennis Dinosco, Carder and Kreatz families, Dalton Huston, Doris Albrecht, Ruth Jarrett, Cody Gardner, Freeda Parman, Bernie Cabra, Jerry Bashford, Leonard Hamilton, Mary Ann Shepard, Leonard Hamilton, Richard Berry, Ben Houghton, Marjorie Bowlin, Mary Ragsdale, Megan Pullen, Kristy Burton, Mildred Updegraff, Don Ramsbottom, Jill Gooding, Lori Neal, Barbara Rudder, Larry Pittsenbarger, Kelly Eads, Wilda Levis, Sue Pittsenbarger, Pauline Watson, Judy Moore, Danny King and Don Moore.

There will be a special board meeting on Sunday, Aug. 20, at 9:45 a.m. Cabinet meeting is at 8 p.m. on Aug. 16. Relay for Life begins Friday, Aug. 18, at 6 p.m. We will be overseeing the children’s games on the square. If you are interested in volunteering, please call Kim in the office at 663-3415. We will work on quilts at 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 24 in the gathering area.

Gallatin United Methodist

At the 11 a.m. service the reading was Psalm 130. Rev. Richard Parker gave the children’s sermon. He shared that the closer we come to God, the closer we are to each other. The pastor read II Samuel 18:9, 15, 31-33. Betty Peters read Ephesians 4:25-5:2. Rev. Parker continued his series on David, "Tears, Too Late." He spoke about reconciliation in our homes and with God. Worship service at 9 a.m. message was "Fishing Buddies, Part Four." Scripture was Romans 12:3-8 by Andy Stanley.

Prayer concerns are for Shirley Woods, Rev. Ray Willis, Lori Cummings Neal, Clara Macander, Helen and Edgar Muller.

Wednesday, Aug. 16, at 6:30 p.m. at Seasons on the Square will be our women’s retreats. The program is "Women’s Circle of Faith." Call Gina Dixon or Carol Wood about reservations. Our church Relay for Life team will be selling homemade cinnamon rolls. Walkers are needed are needed for Friday night. Luminaries are still for sale. Sunday, Aug. 20, at 12 p.m. the children’s Sunday School classes will go to McDonald’s and the Trenton pool.

Monday, Aug. 28, the community blood drive will be held at our church. Sunday, Sept. 10, is Fun Day Sunday. There will be breakfast, games and a silent auction to raise money for the Sunday School activities. Bring your auction items to the church.

Winston First Baptist

"Send your bread on the surface of the waters, for after many days you may find it," Ecclesiastes 11:1. Our pastor is in KU with a stroke. Jimmy Norton took Bro. Green’s place. His message was "Peace Be Still," from John 14:27 and several other chapters. Sunday night we met at the church for prayer and singing to uplift Bro. Green and praise for the rain that fell.

Aug. 31 through Sept. 4 is the state fair missionary at the Bethany fair grounds. Sept. 24-Sept. 27 is HBA on mission celebration with different missionaries in our church each service.

Seventh-day Adventist

Our Church at Study lesson this week was on the "70 Weeks" time prophecy with memory verse in Daniel 9:24. We had a video message also from Daniel 8 and 9 by Pastor Russell Burrell. Our prayer concerns are for the families of our church who are having special health problems and needs from our Lord Jesus Christ. All of us need the Holy Spirit leading in our lives to draw us closer to our Lord and Savior. Next week our pastor will be with us for the worship service. We praise God for His leading in our lives day by day.

Gallatin First Baptist

The Sunday morning message by Bro. Spencer was "The Sound of Prayer-less-ness," from Revelations 3:14-21. Kristen Ellis brought the message in song. Sunday night was church-in-conference and the devotion preceding was "The Three Contrasts," from I Kings 18:16-39.

Baptist Women’s Missionary Group is meeting on Wednesday at the home of Viva Jean Parks. The program is "Not Alone." This Sunday evening is the annual picnic at Dockery Park. Meat and drinks are provided. You are to bring a couple of covered dishes to complete the meal. Also remember to bring lawn chairs. Softball game begins at 4:30 and the meal is at 6. The evening program at 7 is a musical group from the Hamilton area called "Overflow."
