Tyler Miller US Navy based in Texas, son of Virgil and Pam Miller is home for a few days visiting with family and friends. He is being shipped out when he returns to base.

Letha Shipers visited Wednesday with Sharen Moore in Winston.

Bill and Cheryl Adams and Dorlene Munn were Sunday dinner guests of Woodrow and Maxine Morris. In the afternoon they attended the Cummings wedding anniversary and the birthday party for Marvin Searcy. Other visitors recently of the Morrises were Herb Luke, Dustin Miller, Forrest and Jeanna Morris, Donavon Johnson and Linda McVicker.

Frank and Bonnie Shipers, Zemilena Markham, Rex Fountain, Alice Bell, Brett Henggeler and friend Heather went to Omaha, Neb., to attend the wedding of Marcella Applegate’s granddaughter, Julie Bennett, and Andrew Sebastian on Saturday night at Omaha. They returned to their homes Sunday. Julie’s parents are Eva Jane and Sam Bennett.

Mildred Walker, Billie and Homer Owens, Jacky Walker, Jacob, Sadie, Mallory went to Des Moines, Iowa, for the weekend. Julie Trusty and boys and Michael and Joyce Parkhurst and Lori of Cainsville were also there.

Steve Crabtree, Johnson, Kan., visited this weekend with his mother Norma Crabtree. Phyllis Miller and Norma visited Chester and Shirley Hulett, Bethany, recently.

Saturday evening Jackie Morris and children, Hayley and Jacob, visited Julia Cornett. Sunday morning they and Danny and Annette Cornett, Bonnie and Richard Walker, Larry and Ronnie Cornett had brunch at Julia’s.

Sam Schimelfinig, Wahpeton, N.D., and Gary Fredrickson, Becker, Minn., came this weekend to attend the wedding anniversary for Paul Jr. and Daphna Cummings. Sunday evening they and the Cummings went to Cameron where they were joined by Vivian Ross for the evening meal before they started back to their homes.

Tom and Pat Lambert, Charity Cox and Verl Garrison, all members of the New Life Baptist mission team, spent several days this past week helping at the Lone Star Baptist Church with the building of an addition.

Monday night Pam Fitzgerald, Corpus Christi, Texas, Pat and Jim Cox, Coffey, Nick, Heather and Spencer Fitzgerald, Tom and Pat Lambert and Charity Cox met for out of town meal to help Jim Cox celebrate his birthday.

Tuesday Sandra Holman and Lee Mikes visited Leroy and Janelle Mikes Wednesday Sandra took the Mikes to visit Shana Day and girls. On the way home they stopped at Cameron at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Klindt.

Friday afternoon of last week Lavena Lowrey, Betty Hill and Doris and Mary Jane Sweat met at Lloyd and Norma Robertson’s to get he plans for the McFall School reunion started. It will be held Saturday, Sept. 9, for anyone that went to McFall school.

Jonathan Lowrey, son of Kris and Elizabeth Lowrey, just returned home for a seven week internship in the office of Sam Graves at Washington D.C. Part of his work was to give tours of the Capital Building. He worked in Same Graves office, attended briefings, hearings and then reported back to Mr. Graves. He worked nine hours each day, riding the subway to work. On weekends he was free to do personal touring. He visited the portrait gallery, White House, attended two national baseball games the National Archives Building, Arlington Cemetery and saw the "Changing of the Guards," and the Aerial Space Center.

One of the highlights of his stay was on July 4 when he was at the National Monument and watched the fireworks. He found the people to be friendly and enjoyed the experience and the work and would be willing to do it again.
