Seventh-day Adventist

This week was our four-church District Rally at Pershing State Park. Those of us who did not go met at our church. Our church at study lesson was on Daniel 8 with memory verse Daniel 8:14. During our worship service hour we had a singspiration and praise service followed by our fellowship lunch. Prayer concerns are for our families and friends who have illness and other problems. The Lord knows our hearts and lives.

Pattonsburg UMC Charge

Pastor Barbara Starr’s sermon was "How are You Fed?" based on II Samuel 11:1-15, Ephesians 3:14-21 and Mark 14:13-21. Remember in prayer Homer McDaniel, Betty Cameron, Frances Lowery, Georgia Williams, Hal Robertson and the families of Chuck Graves and Avonda Hamilton.

Pattonsburg Baptist

Scripture was from Ezra 7. Bro. Matt Tanner’s message was from Roman 13: 1-7. Bible study is at 7 p.m. on Sunday and at 1:30 on Tuesday. Northridge Bible study is Wednesday at 7:30 prayer meeting. Children’s camp is Monday through Friday. Our church will host the second day of the associational annual meeting Aug. 9 with sessions at 9:30 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. There will be a covered dish meal at noon. This is an opportunity for our church to extend hospitality to others in the association.

Prayer requests: Stephanie and Allie Tanner, Nicole Munday, Sue St. Vincent, Mary Mikes Mitchell, Roy Sigman, tiny babies Henry and Sydney, C.R. West, Charles Daniel, Mary Minor, Bill and Kathryn Carter, Roseanne Shipers, Mikey Kincaid, Wilma Ross, Frances Lowrey, Carter Crone and Charlotte Stamper. Sympathy is extended to the family of Charles Graves.

Fairview Community

John Stith, Vern Bridgman, Dixie Alexander and Bro. Davis led prayers. Bro. John read from John 12:44-50. Sunday School concluded at I Timothy 5:2. Bro. Davis’ message was "All of You," from Mark 12:30-31 and Romans 12:12. Special prayers are for Gertrude Pickering and Sue Pittsenbarger. Fairview hosted the 5th Sunday Sing for the Winston Ministerial Alliance. The churches represented were Fairview, Winston First Baptist and Winston United Methodist.

Come share the blessings brought by the gospel music of Renee and Carl on Aug. 6 at 7 p.m. A love offering will be taken. Refreshments will be served.

Olive Baptist

Bro. David’s Sunday morning message was "Integrity" from Proverbs 19. Sarah Ishmael’s children’s message was "Teaching Trust," from Acts 16:28. Sunday evening Bro. David led a study from Max Lucado on "Stormy Places," based on Matthew 14.

Business meeting will be held Sunday, Aug. 13. The annual youth back-to-school shopping trip will be Sunday, Aug. 13, following morning service.

Altamont United Methodist

Bro. Ralph Davis brought special music singing "Fill My Cup Lord" and "When He was on the Cross." Children’s time was "Don’t think you are better than someone else." Pastor Marilyn’s message was "Strolling into Temptation." Her lesson was from John 6:1-21, "Jesus Feeds a Crowd."

A love donation was given fro Megan Pullen to help with medical expenses. Prayer concerns were for Everett Votow, uncle of Marlene Allen, Sue Pittsenbarger and Clara Macrander.

Gallatin First Assembly of God

Thought for the week: People ignore God and then blame Him for the chaos that results.

Opening scripture was Psalms 29:2-8. Praise reports were from June Williams, Wayne and Zoe Smith, Pearl and Jim Hagger, and Linda Lollar. Prayer request were for, Lonnie Terry, Nelda Carlson’s sister, Herman Jolly, Lint’s nephew, Eskridge family, and Ron Price. Brother Lint’s text was from I Corinthians 14:21-26, title of his message was, "When God Speaks."

Sunday evening was our 5th Sunday, some shared in song, poetry, and God’s word. Coming attraction: Sat. Aug. 5 at 6 p.m. all teenagers are welcome to Teen Night. We will be having Zane Smith and band, also food and fellowship. For more information call Pastor Lint at 749-5789.

Gallatin Presbyterian

Rev. Nordvall’ sermon was "Measuring Life: By What Yardstick?" based on Romans 3:1-20. Tony Moore read scripture and Rev. Nordvall presented the children’s message. Prayer concerns are for Ada Edwards, Roy Worrell, Eula Osborne, Georgia Owings, Barbara Macy, Pat Jefferson and Isabelle Glaser. Norma Johnson was hostess for the fellowship hour.

Jameson First Baptist

Bro. Nathan Kottwity’s morning message was "The Course of the Christian," from Luke 8:26-39. Special music was "Just When I Need Him Most," by Elaine Bohannon. Prayer needs: Patrick McBroom, Don Larsen, Mary Louise Hackett, Donna Yates, Marvin Landes, Frank and Shirley Smith, Pauline Watson, Michelle Owens, Amanda Bohannon’s friend, Charles Prentice, Robert Bartlett, John Paul James and Peggy Jincks. Sympathy is extended to the family of Phyllis Carder.

Aug. 19 is Men’s Prayer Breakfast, Gallatin. Aug. 27 is community church services at Jameson City Park at 10 a.m.

Gallatin United Methodist

The 9 a..m. service message was "Why Fish" – Andy Stanley series. Scripture was John 21:15-19. The psalter reading at the 11 a.m. service was Psalm 14. Jan Johnson was organists. Rev. Richard Parker gave the children’s time. He shared that if you do a wrong, let it stop with one, and not do more. The pastor read the scripture from II Samuel 11:1-15 and Linda Adkins read the gospel John 6:16-21. His sermon was on David, "A Lesser Man." The children’s choir sang at the church dinner at noon.

Prayer concerns are for Rev. Ray and May Willis and their daughter, Rachel Grooms. Helen and Edgar Muller, Jill McGinnis Gooding, Clara Macrander and Shirley Wood.

Aug. 6, "Friends in Service" at Kent and Rhonda Axton’s. Aug. 16 is the women’s retreat at Season on the Square. The program will be "Women’s Circle of Faith."Remember to buy a luminary for Relay for Life. You may purchase one for $5 in memory of someone or in honor of a cancer survivor.

Gallatin First Christian

At the 10 a.m. combined worship service Pastor Russ Hamilton gave the message, "God Provides," based on John 6:1-21. Vicki Corwin gave the children’s message. This week’s service was a sermon in song with special music from the children of our church sharing several of their VBS and camp songs, Julie Hefley, and the praise team. Breakfast was served before service at 9 a.m., giving the congregation the chance to share in fellowship.

Wednesdays: Christian education meeting at 6:30 p.m., prayer meeting is 6:30-7 p.m., Bible study at 7 p.m. in the gathering area.

Pattonsburg Christian

Scripture reading was from Corinthians 11:17-34. Guest speaker Bro. Mike Palmer’s message was "High on Jesus," from Colossians 3:1-17. Remember in prayer Natalie Kauffman, Homer McDaniel, Lori Neal, Betty Cameron, Frances Lowrey, Lyle Warford, Hal Robertson. Thoughts and prayers of sympathy are with the Chuckie Graves family.

There will be a 60th wedding anniversary reception for Paul and Daphna Cummings immediately after church on Aug. 6 .

Winston First Baptist

Teach them to your children, Deuteronomy 6:9. Something to think about: to know God is at once the easiest and the most difficult thing in the world.

Rev. Green’s message was "How to Get Ahead in Your spiritual Life," Philippians 3:12-13.

Our children’s camp started Monday. We had the services at Lake Viking Health Care Center with nine present from our church. Sunday night at Fairview Church, the WAMA hymn sing was held with 12 from our church present.

Aug. 6 at 2:30 at our church, we will have ordination services for Bro. Brian Heldenbrand. Aug. 31 through Sept. 4 is our Northwest Missouri State Fair ministry at the Bethany Fair Grounds. Sept. 20 is "see you at the pole" at our schools. Sept. 24-27 is HBA on mission celebration with different missionaries in our church each service.
