Votive candles are nestled in sandbags and lit for a soft effect. On the evening of Friday, Aug. 18, each of the votives will encircle the Daviess County Courthouse square. The glowing votives will create a lasting tribute when they are lit during a special ceremony at the Daviess County Relay for Life.
For a small $5 donation, individuals or families may dedicate a luminary to someone who has or has had cancer.
The final pieces of this year’s relay are coming together and there is still time to get involved by forming a relay team, purchasing luminaries or supporting any of the fund-raising events associated with the American Cancer Society’s fight to find a cure.
