George Hunter, 82, St. Joseph, died at his residence on Saturday, July 22, 2006.
Memorial Services for George Hunter will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 28, at Brookdale Presbyterian Church. Inurnment will be at Memorial Park Mausoleum at a later date. The Family will receive friends from 6-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, where friends may call after 5 p.m. Thursday. The Family suggests memorial gifts to Brookdale Presbyterian Church or the Parkinson Foundation.
George Hunter, 82, St. Joseph, died at his residence on Saturday, July 22, 2006.
Mr. Hunter was born Oct. 28, 1923, in McFall, and resided in St. Joseph for most of his life. He served as a navigator in the US Air Force from 1943 to 1945.
He worked as a real estate agent for Krug Realty, worked with the downtown urban renewal project, and was a licensed insurance agent.
He was a member of Brookdale Presbyterian Church, where he served as deacon, trustee and usher; he was a charter member and past president of the Northside Lions Club; a member of Pony Express Post No. 359, American Legion, all of St. Joseph, and was a member of the Wathena, Kan. Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Andrew and Octavia Frances (Grable) Hunter; and two brothers.
On May 14, 1950 he married the former Aileen Toney at the Wathena Methodist Church. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include one daughter, Jennifer L. Hunter, of Kansas City; one son, Randall S. Hunter of St. Joseph; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
