Pattonsburg UMC Charge

Pastor Barbara Starr’s sermon was based on II Samuel 6:1-5, 12-19, Ephesians 2:11-22 and Mark 6:30-34, 53-46. Remember in prayer Homer McDaniel, Betty Cameron, Frances Lowery, Georgia Williams, Avonda Hamilton and Hal Robertson.

Pattonsburg Baptist

Bro. Matt Tanner’s message was "Spirit Filled Life," from Romans 12:14-16. Attendance was 41 for Sunday School. V.B.S. family night was held July 16. A good crowd attended. Refreshments were served after the program. Cookie day is Tuesday at Lake Viking Care Center. Tuesday is Northridge Bible study at 1:30. Children’s camp is July 31 to Aug. 4.

Our church will be participating in an association-wide "on missions celebration" Sept. 24-27. This will give us the privilege of hosting a missionary and the opportunity to hear four other missionaries speak. Phyllis Miller, our spiritual preparation coordinator, will be placing inserts in the bulletin for the next few weeks as a guide to help us prepare for this event. Please keep these cards and refer to them as you pray. Our goal is to glorify God in our preparation and participation in this celebration.

Prayers are for Stephanie and Allie Tanner, Nicole Munday, Sue St Vincent, Mary Mikes Mitchell, Roy Sigman, Avonda Hamilton, tiny babies Henry and Sydney, C.R. Olive Baptist

Bro. David’s Sunday morning message was "Courage Under Fire," from Daniel 3. Sarah Ishmael’s children’s message was "Sticking Up for God," from Acts 13:8. Bro. Ramsey’s Sunday evening Bible study was "Deity of Jesus Christ," from Genesis 1 and Isaiah 9, 11. WMU ladies are collecting back-to-school items for children in the community.

Gallatin First Baptist

Shelly Sims and Myrlene Heldenbrand were commissioned for the two week mission to Haiti. There was a deacon ordination service for Harold Catt, Mike Henderson and Jim Ruse. E. J. Barnes, director of Missions of North Grand River Baptist Association, brought the ordination charge. Scripture was Acts 6:1-4 and I Timothy 3:8-13.

Sunday evening Bro. Spencer’s message was "Sitting Before the Lord," from I Samuel 7:18-29. Wednesday the Baptist Women met at the home of Viva Jean Parks. Program was "The Land of Promise – God Revives Appalachia."

Gallatin Presbyterian

Rev. Nordvall’s sermon was "Only One Savior," based on John 14:1-6. The scripture reading was by Tony Moore. Rev. Nordvall also presented the children’s message. Prayer concerns continue to be for Roy Worrell, Eula Osborne, Georgia Owings, Pat Jefferson, Barbara Macy, Isabelle Glaser and Laurinda Jones. Our church was in charge of services at the nursing home. Marge McAfee was hostess for the fellowship hour.

Jameson First Baptist

Bro. Andy Wile’s morning message was "Newness of Life," from Romans 6: 1-14. Special music was "Sweet Hour of Prayer" by Amanda Bohannon. We appreciate all those that have helped with V.B.S. We could not have done it without you.

Pastor Russ Hamilton gave the message "Finding the Center," based on Psalm 24 and Ephesians 1:3-14. Darlene Moore gave the children’s message for the first service and Theresa Hamilton gave the children’s message for the second service.

Christian education meeting is at 6:30 p.m. and cabinet meeting is at 8 p.m. on July 19. Building Committee meeting is at 6:30 p.m. and board meeting is at 8 p.m. on July 24.

Seventh-day Adventist

Our church at study lesson was on Daniel 2 with memory verse in Daniel 2:44. Pastor, Mike Carner’s topic of discussion was "Fire Walkers," with Scripture reading in Isaiah 33:14. Mike Huffman sang "My Lord and I.." Prayer requests are for the Woody family, Bobbi Lynn, Dale, Walkers, Muse, Welch, Mead, Weissenbach, Galetti, Springer, Wieands, and Pastor Pat Stout.

We will be having our District Rally this coming weekend at Pershing State Park. Bring your lawn chairs and picnic lunch and join us there on July 29. Pastor Mike Carner will have the service.

Winston First Baptist

"Proclaim the Message, Pursue it Whether it is Convenient or Not," from II Timothy 4:2. We had our church in the park with a carry-in basket dinner. There was a great crowd at the Jesse James Day festival all day long. We appreciate all the merchants in Pattonsburg, Gallatin, and the Cameron community for the free drawing items. The festival was a success. Rev. Ralph Davis had the opening prayer and prayer of intercession. Bro. Green’s message was "Feeding the Giants in Your Life, Part Two." The Fairview Community Church reverend is Ralph Davis. First Baptist Church reverend is Gerald Green and the First United Methodist Church reverend is Nick Kindred.

V.B.S. started on July 17-21 from 6-9 with 54 children. July 22 at 6 p.m. is VBS family night cook-out and program. July 30 at 6 p.m. is our Winston Area Ministerial Alliance meeting at the Fairview Community Church. At 7 p.m. will be our Fifth Sunday Hymn Sing at Fairview on the same day. We still have several on the prayer and praise list.

Here is something to think about, God’s help in trouble: The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble, and he knoweth them that trust in him." Nahum 1:7. "My flesh and my heart faileth but God is the strength in my heart and my portion forever," Psalms 73:26.

Fairview Community

Today’s prayers were led by Angie McFee, John Stith and Bro. Davis. John Stith read from Psalms 113:1-3. Sunday School concluded at I Timothy 2:15. Fairview participated in the community service in the Winston Park. Bro. Green’s message was "Do You Have Any Giants in Your Life?" from I Samuel 17. Special prayer requests are for Gene Lee, Mary Ellen Barker, Beth Caldwell and Dee Turner. The Green’s son was in the hospital for tests.

Gallatin First Assembly of God

Thought for the week, "Does it hurt when people don’t trust you? Imagine how God feels." Prayer request are for, Nelda Carlson’s sister, and Gerald Carlson’s sister, daughter of Ray and Rhonda Garton, and Tammy Mobley. Brother Lint’s text was from 1st Thessalonians 5:1-10, title of his message was, "Peace, be calm."

VBS starting Monday July 17-21 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. each evening, with graduation for the entire family Sunday July 23 at 6 p.m. For more information call Brother Lint at 749-5789, or leave a message at 663-3213. Coming Wed July 26 we will have Pastor Ed Damphouse, radio and TV recording artist at 6 p.m. More information at a later date.

Alta Vista Baptist

Attendance was 40. Scripture reading was from II Corinthians 5:17. Brother Bob’s message was entitled "The Old Man Is Dead So Quit Trying To Wake Him Up." Prayer concerns this week are for Larry Pittsenbarger, Randy Frazier, Walter Ramsey, Dusty Myers, Sue Pittsenbarger, Patty Akers, Wilma Dean, the family of William Irminger, Jim Carr, Lewis Defries, Frances Mazzucca, Donnie Pennington, Twila Hunsicker, Beverly Lang, Howard Trullinger, Arvilla Lubow, Kaye Hunsicker, Mildred Updegraff, and Gary Clark.

VBS is being held this week. The VBS Program will be held during worship service next Sunday. A swimming party and picnic has been planned for Aug. 6 at Cameron. Come join us for worship service.

Altamont United Methodist

Adult Sunday School lesson was "Jacob Showed Favoritism to His Son Joseph." High School study was "Do not lie and make excuses, sometimes you have to suffer the consequences." Twenty-six people enjoyed swimming and fellowship at our annual Sunday School picnic held at Lake Viking Sunday evening.

Laurie Roll fixed and decorated our new kitchen lamp shades. Jack Malo is attending church camp at Camp Wilderness this week near Lawson. Prayer continues for Marlene Allen, Nina Allen, Dallas Backer and Clara Macrander.

Gallatin United Methodist

During the worship service at 9 a.m. the message was "Heros, Part Four" by Andy Stanley. Scripture was from Matthew 26:36-39. Prayers were for Nadine James on the loss of her husband, Bob Aulgur, Virgil Peters, Shirley Wood, Jill McGinnis Gooding and Rev. Ray Willis.

The children’s time during the 11 a.m. service was shared by Rev. Richard Parker was on "Happiness, what makes us happy. Share happiness in many ways." The scripture lesson was II Samuel 6:1-5, read by the pastor, and Ephesians 1:3-14 read by Nancy Tate. Rev. Parker’s sermon was "For What We Received."

Loyalty Circle is Wednesday at the home of Lois Yost. Our church is delivering meals on wheels this month. Remember the 5th Sunday dinner at 12 noon on July 30.

Pattonsburg Christian

Scripture reading was from II Corinthians 5:1-10. Dr. Ben Awbrey’s message, "Your Life Matters," was from Matthew 25:31-46. Remember in prayer Natalie Kauffman, Judy Vyrostek, Homer McDaniel, Emily Brown, Avonda Hamilton, Hal Robertson, Randy Stith, Lori Neal, Betty Cameron, Beverly Lang, Frances Lowrey, Carter Crone and Lyle Warford. The swim party is planned for Aug. 13.
