A Gallatin man was moderately injured in a two-vehicle accident on Tuesday, July 11, at about 2:55 p.m. at I-35 and Hwy. 69, two miles west of Winston.
The accident occurred as a pickup driven by Willie Carey, 83, of Lacrescenta, Calif., was turning from southbound I-35 onto northbound US 69, and pulled into the path of a southbound vehicle driven by Larry Eaton, 63, of Gallatin.
Mr. Eaton was taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center by Daviess County Ambulance. He was wearing his seat belt.
Both vehicles, the 1994 GMC Sierra pickup driven by Mr. Carey and the1990 Honda Civic driven by Mr. Eaton, were extensively damaged and towed by Bridgeman’s of Altamont.
The accident was investigated by Cpl. R.A. Sherman, assisted by Cpl. M.A. Wilhoit, Tpr. T.I. Goolsby and KAW Fire Department.
Summons to Mr. Carey for failure to yield right of way.
Two adults and four children were injured in a head-on collision at about 10:11 p.m. on Friday, July 7, in Daviess County.
The accident occurred as a vehicle driven by James Brostrom, 48, Overland Park, Kan., was westbound on Hwy. 69, one mile east of Winston, and a vehicle driven by Bobbie Lynn, 28, Gallatin, was eastbound. Mr. Brostrom’s vehicle crossed the center line and struck Mrs. Lynn’s vehicle head on. The Brostrom vehicle skidded to a stop in the westbound lane. The Lynn vehicle traveled off the south side of the roadway.
Mr. Brostrom was taken by Cameron Ambulance to Cameron Regional Medical Center and then by Life Net to Heartland Regional in St. Joseph. He was not wearing his seat belt.
Mrs. Lynn was taken by Life Net to Heartland Regional with serious injuries. She was not wearing her seat belt. A child in the Lynn vehicle, Jordan Cabra, 10, was taken by Daviess County Ambulance to Cameron Regional with moderate injuries. He was wearing his seat belt. There were three other children in the vehicle: Wesley Lynn, 9, received minor injuries and was taken by Daviess County Ambulance to Cameron Regional; Ayrica Stufflebean, 6, and Michaela Lynn, 8, both received moderate injuries and were taken by Cameron Ambulance to Cameron Regional. All the children were in safety devices.
Mr. Brostrom’s 1999 Chrysler and Mrs. Lynn’s 1999 Chrysler were both totaled and towed by Bridgeman’s.
The accident was investigated by Trp. T.I. Goolsby, assisted by Cpl. R.A. Sherman, Tpr. J.P. Lynch, Cpl. J.P. Angle, Trp. D.S. Christmas, the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department, the Daviess County Ambulance, and the Cameron Ambulance.
Mr. Brostrom received a summons for C&I, seat belt, and driving on wrong side of roadway.
