Two teenagers received moderate injuries in a one-vehicle accident at about 12:55 a.m. on Sunday, July 2, in Daviess County.
The accident occurred as Sarah Ellis, 16, Bethany, was northbound on Hwy. 13 about three miles south of Coffey. Her vehicle crossed the centerline and slid sideways into an embankment, overturned once, then spun and became airborne, coming to rest on its top.
Sarah and a passenger, Megan Vantellman, 16, Bethany, were taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center by Daviess County Ambulance. Both were wearing their seat belts.
The 1997 Mercury was totaled and towed by Bridgemans of Altamont.
The accident as investigated by Tpr. T. I. Goolsby, assisted by the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department.

A Minnesota man received serious injuries and his wife minor injuries in a one-vehicle accident on I-35 in Daviess County.
Dustin Vanasse, 26, St. Paul, Minn., was southbound on I-35, about five miles north of Cameron, at about 11:32 a.m. on Saturday, July 1. He attempted to avoid a semi tractor trailer and ran off of the left side of the roadway. The vehicle returned to the roadway and began sliding, then ran off of the right side of the roadway, struck an embankment, went airborne and rolled three times, coming to rest on its top off of the west side of I-35.
Mr. Vanasse and his wife Grace Vanasse, 26, were taken by Cameron Ambulance to Cameron Regional Medical Center. Mr. Vanasse was then taken by life flight to Heartland Hospital in St. Joseph. Both were wearing their seat belts.
The 1997 Saturn was totaled and towed by Scotty’s Wrecker to Cameron.
The accident was investigated by Tpr. A.K. Griffin, assisted by Tpr. J.R. Johnston, Trp. D.A. Landi, the Cameron Police Department, the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department, Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, Clay County Sheriff’s Department and Cameron Fire Department.
