Fifteen Missouri high school students converged on the University of Missouri campus June 12-14 for the Missouri Pork Institute, sponsored by the MU College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources and the Missouri Pork Association. Kyle Croy and Lee Deutschman of Gallatin were among the participants.

Students learned about artificial insemination, nutrition and feed management, livestock judging, gilt selection, economics, carcass evaluation, meat quality and manure management during the three-day institute, which often is referred to as “Pig Camp.” They also toured the Cargill processing plant, the Kent feed mill and the MFA swine complex, all in Marshall.
