Clayton Baker and Trisha Sprague of Gallatin R-5, Whitney Mason of Pattonsburg R-2, Beth Ann Morris of North Daviess R-3 and Kenny Lee of Winston R-6, all 2006 graduates, have been selected to receive the Jamie R. Johnson Memorial Scholarship.

The scholarship was started by Mike and Colleena Johnson in honor of their daughter, who died at eight months of age. Funding for this scholarship comes from donations given at the time of her death, as well as funds raised through a fireworks tent located at Gallatin.

Criteria for selection included demonstrated determination and an inner drive as witnessed throughout Jamie’s life. The scholarship money will not be dispersed until after the completion of the applicant’s first semester in college. Seniors at three other high schools, Tri-County R-7, Maysville and East Buchanan, are also awarded the scholarship.
