During their regular meeting held Monday, June 12, City Clerk Autumn Acree told the Gallatin Board of Aldermen that the water plant is now running 24 hours a day which may result in mandatory water restrictions in the near future. In response to an inquiry about Layne Western, she stated that as far as she knew, the company had not yet begun analysis of the water plant.

Mrs. Acree reported that Scott Stephens would be at the next meeting to present the 2005 audit to the board. Onyx would also be present to discuss their renewal contract with the city.

Police Chief Mark Richards reported on activity from May 22 to June 12. Reports Taken/Tickets Given: 1 – property damage; 2 – peace disturbance; 1 – stealing; 1 – false information; 2 – domestic assaults; 1 – driving while suspended; 1 – supplying alcohol to a minor; 1 – vandalism; 4 – speeding; 1 – defective equipment; 1 – accidents; 1 – animal abuse/neglect; 1 – minor in possession. There are nine dogs in the pound.

Chief Richards stated that summonses have been issued for the remaining code violations that have not complied with the letters sent out. Chief Richards stated that city court had been held June 12 and 54 cases were heard.

Bills in the amount of $128,079.07 were approved for payment.

During new business, Wilbur and Judy Bush inquired about the sewer portion of their utility bill for their nursery. It was explained that the sewer hook-up ordinance requires sewer charges if within 400 feet of the sewer. Mayor Ballew stated that the board would take their issue under advisement.

City Administrator Johnson had submitted a map to the board in their packets regarding stop signs. Discussion was held regarding the map.

During comments by aldermen, Gene Caldwell had complains regarding property on West Grand.

Mayor Ballew commented that she has had positive feedback on the banners from business owners and would like to send some flyers out to local organizations also.
