The Daviess County Soil and Water Conservation District, in conjunction with the Hickory Creek AgNPS SALT Project located in Daviess and Harrison County, will host a well decommissioning seminar on June 27. There will be a slide presentation at the USDA Service Center, followed by a field demonstration at the Dan Herrold farm in the northern part of the county.
The purpose of this meeting is to give the landowner an on-hands look at the proper method to fill an abandoned well for several reasons, including two very important ones, water quality and safety.
Participants will meet at the field office at 8:30 for coffee and donuts. There will be a short presentation by the NRCS personnel from Columbia, then to the field for the actual demonstration.
