The children of Austin and Darlene Bonnett would like to invite family and friends to attend their 50th wedding anniversary reception at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 211 North Main Street, Gallatin, on July 1 from 7-9 p.m. No gifts please.

Darlene and Austin were high school sweethearts. They married April 7, 1956, after he completed Navy basic training and graduated from electrician school. Their first daughter was born while he was stationed on the Navy Icebreaker USS Burton Island located in Antarctica. Austin earned his electrical engineering degree and MBA. Darlene attended Yavapai College in Arizona, majoring in business.

They spent the next 35 years moving around the country while he worked for Emerson Electric. He retired as vice president of engineering for the Electric Motor Division. The couple formed their own consulting firm and moved to their farm in Gallatin. He currently is serving as the bishop of the Gallatin ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Darlene is involved in humanitarian aid and currently is a Young Women’s Advisor at their church.

Austin and Darlene have five children, Kenny and Kathi Buntin of Mena, AR; Brian and Debbie Christensen of Aurora, CO; Richard and Carol Bonnett of Keller, TX; David and Amy Bonnett of Belmont, MA; and Dan and Patty Michaelis of Collierville, TN. They have 16 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
