The Hillcrest Cemetery Board appreciates all of those who generously donated to Hillcrest Cemetery over the Memorial Day Holiday.

As some of you may know, Hillcrest Cemetery is maintained by an endowment. This endowment has enabled the board to maintain the cemetery in a presentable manner for many years. However, with only a few spaces remaining, we began looking for additional property to expand and continue to serve the people in our area.

Danny and Pauline Froman came to our rescue and generously donated approximately three acres across the road to the west for our expansion. This expansion has been named “Hillcrest Cemetery, Froman Addition.” Developing this land for cemetery use has proven to be quite costly despite all the voluntary labor and lesser prices charged by various contractors. Also maintenance and lawn care prices continue to rise.

Therefore, this year we decided to reach out to the public for help setting up a tent to take donations. Thanks to the support we received we are going to be able to continue to work and make the new addition a place the community can be proud of.

Approximately 800 spaces have been plotted in the new addition and a few have already been sold. As we sell more lots our financial situation will improve. In addition, we are also planning to make a walkway across the cemetery and around the flag pole available for memorial benches, etc.

We look forward to serving Hillcrest Cemetery with the respect and dignity it deserves, and appreciate your continued support now and in the future. For information you may contact us at 660-663-2181 or P.O. Box 311, Gallatin, 64640. Respectfully,

The Hillcrest Cemetery Board — Edward Nixon, David McWilliams, Dennis Brammer, Tom McWilliams and Sue Downey.
