Although scattered rainfall has helped, much of Daviess County remains extremely dry as July and August approach. State officials use 4 classifications to describe drought: advisory, alert, conservation and emergency. Only a pocket of land in southeastern Missouri is not currently listed in some state of drought. Gallatin has not received significant rainfall in quite some time, with plants beginning to show signs of stress.
