Students on area college honor rolls, receive scholarships

NWMSU honor rolls

The Office of the Registrar at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville announces the names of students who were named to the Academic or President’s Honor Roll at the end of the 2006 spring trimester.

To be included on the Academic Honor Roll a student must carry a minimum of 12 credit hours and attain a grade point average of 3.50 or above on a 4.00 scale. Students named to the President’s Honor Roll have attained a perfect 4.00 GPA for the trimester.

Listed by hometown, Northwest’s spring 2006 trimester honor roll from our area include Nathan Uthe, academic, Altamont; Roxanne Hostetler, presidents, and Kamille Burrell, academic, both of Gallatin; Douglas Franklin, academic, Jamesport; Chase Cornett, presidents, and Brennan Leeper, presidents, both of Pattonsburg; Marsha Jennings, presidents, Winston.

Hammond receives scholarship

Jarod Hammond, son of Robert and Kerry Hammond, received the John W. Boatwright Scholarship to students majoring in economics at the recent Honors Convocation on the campus in Liberty. Jarod is a senior Oxbridge Institutions and Policy and philosophy major.

William Jewell is ranked among the top 10 in The Princeton Review’s "Best Value" Colleges.

Heather Ott graduates from MWSU

Heather L. Ott, 2002 graduate of Gallatin High School recently graduated from Missouri Western State University with a B.S. degree in business administration. She has recently accepted a position with American Family in St. Joseph. Heather is the daughter of Denise Everman of Gallatin, and granddaughter of Ike and Myrna Linn of Bella Vista, Ark, and Maynard and Shirley Ott of Weatherby. [Submitted Photo]

Medical center awards $8,000 in scholarships

Joseph F. Abrutz, Jr., Administrator of Cameron Regional Medical Center (CRMC), has announced that the Scholarship/Education Committee of the CRMC Board of Directors has approved a total of $8,000 in scholarships for fourteen high school seniors graduating from eight different school districts in the four-county area. This is the seventeenth year for the Medical Center’s scholarship program.

Recipients of CRMC scholarships have made a commitment to pursuing a health care field of study on a full-time basis beginning this fall. Final selection of recipients was based on such criteria as high school GPA, ACT score, goals, school/community involvement, and need.

CRMC scholarship winners for 2006 from our area include: Daviess County, $1,000 to Whitney Ray of Gallatin; and Employee’s child, $1,000 to Tina Beck of Gallatin.

Judge Warren McElwain, Chairman of CRMC’s Scholarship/Education Committee, indicated that 22 scholarship applications were received this year. The Medical Center sponsors this program in order to promote careers in health care and in an effort to bring area students back to this region to carry out their professional lives.

Missouri Valley fall dean’s list

Dr

. Earl Wellborn, Jr., Chief Academic Officer for Missouri Valley College, has announced the Spring 2006 Dean’s List. The requirements for the Dean’s List are a 3.3 or higher grade point average; at least 12 graded hours for the semester; and no "D," "F," or "Incomplete" grades for the semester. The following students from the area were named to the Dean’s List: Laura Zimmerman of Bethany.
