Teacher’s base salary was raised by $500 to $28,250 during the regular meeting of the Gallatin R-5 Board of Education held April 13. Support staff also received a 4% raise.
Mr. Ruse discussed the school’s budget balance with the board. The balance is at 36-37%. The state would like the district under 30%. Mr. Ruse said that since the school will receive no new money for the next seven years, cautiously reducing the balance would not be a problem.
Bills in the amount of $195,596 were paid as presented.
The board went over the ledger and year-to-date expenditures.
The old board was adjourned and the new board reorganized as follows: president, Brice Terry; vice-president, Clint Vanatta, secretary, Linda Swopes, and treasurer, Sherri Kerns.
Support staff evaluation and contracts were heard during executive session.
The May board meeting was held May 18.
