During their regular meeting held Tuesday, May 9, City Administrator Zac Johnson told the Gallatin Board of Aldermen that Layne Western was pleased with the flow tests from the new well location. He also reported that the company should have a proposal for the water plant upgrades by the next meeting.

During new business, pool passes were increased for 2006 as follows: family (limit 5) $100; adult (12 and over) $60; child (five to 11) $50.

During comments by the city administrator, Mr. Johnson stated that the final sewer inspection was set for Monday, May 15, at 10 a.m. He discussed employee’s health insurance and informed the aldermen that he was selected to attend an annual conference in June that is provided by the city’s insurance company. He told the board that MoDOT has tabled the Hwy. 6 project for this year.

Joe Griffin and Dave Wilson were appointed to the Planning and Zoning Board.

Police Chief Mark Richards reported on activity from April 24 to May 9. Reports Taken/Tickets Given: 1 – harassment; 1 – peace disturbance; 3 – stealing; 1 – false information; 1 – lost cell phone; 1 – juvenile status offense; 1 – driving while suspended; 1 – stop sign violation; 1 – recovered property; 3 – speeding; 11 – forgery; 2 -accidents; 2 – insurance; 3 – careless driving; 1 – noise disturbance. There are 14 dogs in the pound.

Chief Richards stated that several addresses receiving code violation letters have contacted him for extensions. He has noticed that people are working to bring their property into compliance.

Bills in the amount of $111,513.37 were approved for payment.

During comments by aldermen, Dan Lockridge questioned speed limit changes within the city limits. Chief Richards stated that it is done by ordinance.

During public comments, a citizen discussed Hillcrest Cemetery collecting donations this year on Memorial Day weekend. A citizen complained about the noise ordinance the city has, and felt it was unreasonable. Questions were asked about litigation the city is currently involved in.
