Gallatin FFA members and parents celebrated another outstanding year for the Gallatin FFA Chapter at the Annual Parent Members Banquet held May 3 at the elementary gym. Hattie Rains presided over the business meeting and awards night. It was the 61st anniversary of the Gallatin Chapter.
During the meal, Whitney Ray, Jonathan Arnold and Philip Arnold provided musical entertainment. Reporters Samantha Mott, Kari Youtsey and Riley Rains presented the yearly activity report. Certificates of appreciation were presented to many FFA supporters, and the supporter of the year award was presented to Ray and Mary Ann Clevenger and family.
Chapter awards were presented as follows: Agriculture Mechanics to Ethan Merrigan; BTC Bank Scholarship to Jon Youd, presented by Clint Vanatta; Gallatin FFA Scholarship to Kate Jarboe; STAR Greenhand to Kyle Croy; outstanding sophomore to Andrew Hood; outstanding junior to Laura Youtsey; STAR Chapter Agri-Science Award to Dillon Bird; STAR Chapter Placement to Jessica Fifer; STAR Chapter Agribusinessman to Hattie Rains; STAR Chapter Farmer to Levi Alden; and the DeKalb Award to Hattie Rains.
Principal Mike Burrell presented chapter leadership awards to Alisa Wilson, Jamie Tummons, Amy Hudlemeyer, Riley Rains, Whitney Ray, Derrick Sprague, Kelsie McLaughlin, Courtney Ray, Samantha Mott, Kelly Critten, Kari Youtsey, Maggie Strange, and Lee Deutschman.
Superintendent James Ruse presented chapter scholarship awards to Kate Jarboe, Hattie Rains, Whitney Ray, Riley Rains, Brett Wilkinson, T.J. Little, Jon Youd, Jonathan Arnold, Nic Burrell, Courtney Ray, Phillip Arnold, Alisa Wilson.
Chapter advisor Dennis Croy presented state degree plaques to Levi Alden, Kate Jarboe, Hattie Rains, Clayton Baker, Whitney Ray, Nic Burrell, Dillon Bird, and Jessica Fifer.
Mitch Riley was present to accept the American Farmer degree plaque. Danny Clevenger, Michelle Chadwick, and Justin Harlow also received the American Degree, but were not present to accept.
Members receiving honorary chapter degrees this year included Doug and Sandra Alden, Mark and Lori Baker, Richard and Pamela Fifer, Terry and Mary Jarboe, David and Julie Rains, Bob and Sue Bird, Stan and Denise Ray, and Mike Burrell and Sally Goin.

Senior officers gave retiring addresses and presented their jackets to their parents. The installation of new officers was conducted by the retiring officers. Retiring officers are Hattie Rains, Katie Jarboe, Dillon Bird, Levi Alden, Laura Youtsey, Amy Hudlemeyer, Samantha Mott, Kari Youtsey, Riley Rains, and Jessica Fifer. The new slate of officers is Samantha Mott, president; Riley Rains and Laura Youtsey, vice president; Amy Hudlemeyer, secretary; Kari Youtsey, treasurer; Dennelle Rhoades, reporter; Courtney Ray and Megan Chadwick, assistant reporters; Alisa Wilson and Kyle Croy, sentinel. Maggie Strange and Lee Deutschman are delegates.
