Barbara Holcomb Wilson, 1964 Gallatin R-5 graduate and 1968 Northwest Missouri State University graduate, will give this year’s commencement address. Barbara, a retired teacher, began her teaching career at Tri-County R-7 in Jamesport in 1968 and came to Gallatin in 1970, retiring in 2000. The class of 2006 was her last sixth grade class.
After retirement, Barbara started a new career. For the last six years, she and her husband of 40 years, Jim, have been selling their crafts each fall at juried craft shows in Missouri and Iowa. Jim, class of 1962, is employed by Gallatin R-5 in the bus department.
Barbara and Jim are the parents of two Gallatin graduates. Joshua Wilson, class of 1992 and 1997 graduate of Central Missouri State University. His wife, Kelli, and their four-year-old daughter, Shelby, live in Lee’s Summit. Josh has his master of business administration degree and is employed by Assured Vehicle Protection, located on the Plaza, as a national claims administrator. Kelli is a master teacher at Lee’s Summit High School.
Daughter Ashley Wilson Ishmael, class of 1995 and 1999 Northwest Missouri State University graduate, is a certified public accountant with Harden, Cummins, Moss and Miller LLC in Chillicothe. Her husband, Aaron, and she live on a farm south of Gallatin and raise cattle. Aaron is a salesman for Semex based in Canada, the United States and Mexico. Ashley and Aaron are expecting their first child in November.
