A $35,000 gift from Cameron Regional to NCMC supports proposed Allied Health-Life Sciences development plans
A $35,000 gift from Cameron Regional Medical Center to North Central Missouri College will help support the proposed Allied Health and Life Sciences initiative as a part of the College’s major gift campaign. Due to the mutually-beneficial working relationship enjoyed with NCMC, the CRMC Board of Directors voted at its January 25,meeting to approve this contribution to assist with the college’s future development plans.
The gift is a part of the effort currently underway by NCMC to construct an academic classroom complex allowing growth and expansion of the existing Allied Health and Life Sciences programs. College officials have made preliminary plans that would include doubling the enrollment on the Trenton campus as well as adding additional programs in the Allied Health field; all designed to address the shortage of health care professionals in the nation.
College President Dr. Neil Nuttall indicated that over $4 million has already been pledged or committed to the campaign just beginning its thirteenth month with great appreciation to the response in only one year. “Since NCMC began its first LPN Certificate program in 1967, NCMC has graduated more than 1,250 nurses and health care professionals. A recent 100% pass rate and a 100% placement rate have attributed to the fact that most NCMC students are employed even before their graduation.” Nuttall went on to say that “the wonderful gift from the Cameron Regional Medical Center is just one more way that regional health care providers are supporting this effort. The Cameron facility is an outstanding clinical site for our students and we value that relationship. In addition, the keen interest of the CRMC team in designing and developing programs to meet the needs of the region is equally as important. We applaud the Board of Directors of CRMC and the many employees who recognize the impact of NCMC and the expanding health care initiatives.”
Steve Tinnen, President of the CRMC Board of Directors, indicated that the Board and Administration recognize and appreciate the important role that NCMC plays in supplying well-educated, competent health care professionals. He further stated, “At a time when hospitals are having a difficult time staffing their nursing departments, CRMC has not struggled, due in part to the proximity of NCMC and the quality graduates they produce. We hope our financial contribution will assist with NCMC’s expansion into other medical fields where there are shortages, such as Laboratory Technologists.”
Plans are for NCMC to hopefully break ground in 2007 for a new Allied Health classroom complex. In addition to classes being offered on the Trenton campus, both Level I and Level II nursing programs are also offered at the Northwest Technical School campus in Maryville and administered by NCMC in a cooperative agreement with the Maryville R-2 School District.
Participating in a presentation of the first installment were: NCMC President Dr. Neil Nuttall, Steve Maxey, NCMC Director of Development and Dr. Albert Cross, retired physician and campaign co-chair; representing the Cameron Regional Medical Center were Board President Steve Tinnen, Vice-President Judge Warren McElwain, Secretary Roberta Sandy, and Treasurer Mike Poland. Other CRMC Board Members in attendance were Steve Huitt, Jennifer White, Phil Lammers, Ken Raffety, Shellby Hendee, and Sam Barton D.O. and Fred Kiehl, D.O.
