The State Emergency Management Agency will conduct a Public Assistance briefing for the Daviess County, city, special district officials, and certain non-profit organizations. Daviess County received a Presidential Disaster for Public Assistance as a result of the March 11-13, 2006 tornadoes and severe weather.
The Daviess County briefing will be 9 a.m., April 27, at the Daviess County Courthouse, 2nd Floor Commissioner Room, 102 N. Main, Gallatin.
At the briefing, interested officials will be asked to submit a Notice of Interest for Public Assistance.
Officials of the governmental agencies in Daviess County, cities, towns, villages, Special Districts (Water, School, Sewer, etc.), and certain private non-profit organizations, which suffered damages to infrastructure or incurred eligible expenses as a result of the March 11-13, 2006 tornadoes and severe weather are invited and encouraged to attend. Eligible projects may include: Emergency Work including debris removal and emergency protective measures and / or Permanent Work to repair or to replace facilities damaged by the March 11-13, 2006 tornadoes or severe weather.
Private Non-Profit organizations may also be eligible for assistance if they meet the federal definition of educational, utility, emergency, medical, custodial care facility or critical facilities or provide an essential public service such as a zoo, museum, library, community center, homeless shelter, senior citizen center, shelter workshop which is open to the public.
