Daviess County Commission Report
At 9 a.m., as advertised, the commission held a budget hearing to amend the 2006 budget. Upon recommendation of the county clerk, David Holcomb moved to amend the budget to loan the law enforcement sales tax fund $57,000 to cover prisoner costs incurred prior to the regional jail purchase. This amount will be repaid to the general fund by the end of the fiscal year. The motion carried unanimously.
James Lewis, bridge supervisor, reported the continuation of tube replacement.
Gene Walker and Dana Carder, Central Dispatch, requested permission to install an exhaust system above the suspended ceiling in the 9-1-1- office. New equipment requires a limited maximum temperature to preserve warranties. Permission was granted.
Bills were audited and paid.
David Tolen and Danny Heldenbrand filed their certificates of training from the Missouri Police Chiefs Association for four hours of Incident Command System 100 and four hours for the ICS 700 (NIMS) curriculum.
Tom Bonderer, Liberty Township, met with the commission regarding brush and vehicles obstructing the roadway on Nickel Avenue.
The commission reviewed the renewal quotation for employee health insurance.
The commission discussed with Reta Rains, treasurer, the status of the collection of a delinquent Lake Viking real estate tax. The commission agreed that if the taxpayer will pay in April, 2006, an abatement for a portion of the penalties and interest will be made.
In the afternoon, the commission inspected roads and brush problems in Jefferson, Liberty and Sheridan Townships.
