Gallatin FCCLA Junior and Senior Parliamentary Procedure teams received a gold award and were the top winners at the State Leadership Conference held April 2-4 in Columbia. These students will be representing Missouri FCCLA at the National STAR Events competition in Nashville, Tenn., July 8-13. The following Gallatin FCCLA members attended the 2006 Missouri Family, Career and Community Leaders of America State Leadership Conference at the Holiday Inn Select Executive Center, Columbia: Katie Patton, Kinsey Batson, Ayrica Batson, Jon Youd, Emily Michener, Alyssa Strein, Hannah Huffman, Katherine Everly, Wren Tolen, Sydney Elbert, Taylor Porter, Nicole Everman, Kayle Hefley, Tye Humphrey, Abbey Ray, and Kara Kloepping. Local chapter advisor Becky Adkison and chapter parents Karla Michener and Shelly Elbert also attended.
The delegates from across the state represented nearly 14,000 members of Missouri FCCLA. The conference centered on the student-developed theme “Diagnosis: Leadership.” Conference sessions focused on helping members strengthen and expand their abilities as public speakers, project planners, chapter organizers, and responsible family members and community leaders.
Awards, honors, and recognition were given to outstanding individuals and chapters as well as the announcement of the State STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) Competitive
Events winners and the installation of the 2006-07 State Executive Council.
