The Gallatin Bulldog Pride Band attended district contest in Maryville on March 31 and received a I rating for the second year in a row. Out of 29 bands in the 1A and 2A Class division, eight bands received a I rating; 10 bands received a II rating; nine bands received a III rating; and two bands received a IV rating.
Gallatin High School band and choir members also competed in the 2006 Class 1 and 2A District Music Contest for solos and ensembles.
I Ratings: Lacy Edwards, bassoon solo; Jonathan Arnold, clarinet solo and piano solo; Kara Kloepping, French horn solo; Whitney Ray, alto saxophone solo; Justin Moody, tuba solo; Logan Corwin, euphonium solo; Phillip Arnold, trombone solo and piano solo; clarinet quartet, consisting of Jonathan Arnold, Amy Anthuis, Kathryn Everly and Jamie Brinnen; Melissa Craig, vocal solo; Michelle Turley, vocal solo; Kelsha Bundy, vocal solo; ladies vocal trio – consisting of Kara Kloepping, Kelsha Bundy and Michelle Turley; miscellaneous vocal ensemble – consisting of Michelle Turley, Melissa Craig, Julieann Turley, Kelsha Bundy, Lacy Edwards, Marquis Wheeler, Lacy Peery and Kara Kloepping.
II Ratings: Tye Humphrey, trumpet solo; Sheldon Turley, trombone solo; Teresa Tairent, clarinet solo; Shalyn Lollar, alto saxophone solo; woodwind trio – consisting of Abbey Ray, Jonathan Arnold and Lacy Edwards; Lacy Peery, vocal solo; Jonathan Arnold, vocal solo; Derrick McBroom, piano solo.
III Rating: Jennifer Stanford, vocal solo.
Honor Bands
The Gallatin Bulldog Pride Band has had a successful second semester. In January, six high school students were a part of the 2006 4-State Honor band in Maryville. Whitney Ray received 5th chair alto saxophone; Lacy Edwards received 1st chair bassoon; Justin Moody received 5th chair tuba; Jonathan Arnold received 3rd chair Bb clarinet; Kara Kloepping received 3rd chair French horn; and Tye Humphrey received 9th chair Trumpet.
Fifteen high school and junior high school students were members of the 2006 Grand River Conference Honor Band in Bethany in February. Logan Corwin received 1st chair euphonium; Kara Kloepping received 1st chair French horn; Phillip Arnold received 2nd chair trombone; Abbey Ray received 1st chair flute; Justin Moody received 3rd chair tuba; Tye Humphrey received 2nd chair trumpet; Trae Pyfrom received 4th chair percussion; Jamie Brinnen received 4th chair Bb clarinet; Amy Anthuis received 5th chair Bb clarinet; Sheldon Turley received 5th chair trombone; John Corwin received 12th chair trumpet; Kevin Corwin received 6th chair alto saxophone; and Lacy Edwards received 1st chair bassoon
In February, 15 high school and junior high school students were members of the 2006 Northern Missouri Invitational band in Cameron. Logan received 2nd chair euphonium; Whitney Ray received 1st chair alto saxophone; Justin Moody received 4th chair tuba; Sheldon Turley received 8th chair trombone; Phillip Arnold received 8th chair trumpet; Kara Kloepping received 2nd chair French horn; Derrick McBroom received 9th chair percussion; Jonathan Arnold received 1st chair Bb clarinet; Amy Anthuis received 13th chair Bb clarinet; Laura Makovec received 3rd chair alto saxophone; Bo Malo received 3rd chair tenor saxophone; Abbey Ray received 2nd chair flute; and Jamie Brinnen received 11th chair Bb clarinet.
Upcoming Events
The Gallatin Bulldog Pride Band has been selected through an audition process by Branson On Stage Live to perform in Branson May 5-6-7. The band will perform before the Presleys’ open their show. They will then watch the Presley’s Country Jubilee Show.
The 2006 band spring concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. on May 4 in the high school gym. Everybody is encouraged and welcome to attend.
