Gallatin reaped post season basketball awards this week with the inclusion of senior Trisha Sprague and juniors Andrew Adkison and Nic Burrell on the Class 1 Northwest All-District teams picked by the Missouri Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association.

Gallatin Lady Bulldog coach Rick Lin was also named Coach of the Year for guiding his team to the Class 1 sectional round.

Adkison and Burrell represented a powerful one-two punch for the Bulldogs.

Adkison scored at an 18 points per game clip (469 total) and led the Bulldogs in rebounding (9.4 pg). He also hit 197 of 419 shots from the field (47%).

Burrell scored 457 points, a 17.6 average, and also averaged 4 assists and 3.1 steals per contest. He hit 59 of 177 three-point shots for a 33% success rate. Burrell also led the Dogs at the free throw line, shooting 71% (96 of 136).

Senior Trisha Sprague finished a difficult senior season with 272 points, 33 three-pointers,120 rebounds, 30 assists and 54 steals. Her totals over 96 career games include 910 points, 122 three-pointers (tied for first all-time at GHS), 466 rebounds, 102 assists and 150 steals.

Sprague finished her career as a 71% free throw shooter (158 of 223).

For Coach Lin, this week’s award represents his fourth overall coach of the year award. He was named St. Joseph News-Press Coach of the Year in 1996; KMZU Class 1 Coach of the Year in 1996 and Class 2 Coach of the Year in 1997; and KAAN Coach of the Year in 1996. He has also served as coach of the District 26F Lions All-Star Basketball Classic four times – two years boys and two years girls.

Coach Lin’s girls coaching record at GHS is 279-110, and he has guided 20-win girls squads nine times since the 1992-93 season.
