Funeral services for Lela Grace were held Tuesday at Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment was at Grandview Cemetery, Albany.

Lela Beryl (Christian) Grace, 82, formerly of St. Joseph, died Friday, March 17, 2006, at a hospital in Gillette, Wyo.

Mrs. Grace was born on June 24, 1923, in Darlington, to Rev. Albert and Sue (Chenoweth) Christian. She graduated from Darlington High School in 1940.

On Oct. 5, 1941, she married Max Elliott Grace of Lone Star.

During WWII they lived in several states where Max was stationed with the US Army Air Corps. They later lived in Kansas City, Kan., Darlington, Pattonsburg, Union Star, and St. Joseph.

Lela was retired from Missouri Methodist Hospital in St. Joseph where she worked in Central Supply for many years.

She and her husband were happily married for 53 years. Soon after his death in June of 1995, Mrs. Grace moved to Gillette, Wyo., to be near family, where she resided the rest of her life.

Mrs. Grace was a faithful member of a Baptist Church in whatever community she lived.

She was also preceded in death by a sister Mildred Christian.

Survivors include one son, David Grace of Gillette; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
