The Winston R-6 Board of Education accepted an alternate bid of $163,000 by Hausman for the replacement of the school’s gym roof during their regular meeting held Thursday, March 16. The bid includes a mineral finish. Carrie Crouse gave the CTA Salary Committee presentation. The board discussed the spring program with Jake Ard, music teacher. During principal’s reports, Mrs. Chapman reported a 93.82% attendance rate for grades K-6 for February. Mr. Steele reported a 92.7% attendance rate for grades 7-12 for February. The food service report was approved. Bids will be obtained for an exhaust hood. The Calendar of Events was reviewed and a make-up day changed. School will be in session on April 12. There will be no school on April 13 for a teacher in-service. The board entered into executive session to discuss personnel. The board heard certified teaching; extra-duty, and non-certified personnel evaluations; other certified personnel contracts and extra-duty contracts. The board discussed the 2006-2007 salary schedule. The following resignations were accepted: Mary Lee Froman-Ellis, librarian; Darlene Conover, special education teacher; Jerry Steele, secondary principal; Darla Chapman, elementary principal; Jake Ard, K-12 music teacher; Nicole Pulliam, cheerleading sponsor. The meeting to reorganize the board will be held at 7 p.m. on April 12. The board approved gym rental for the summer league baseball group. Policy updates received a first reading. The board accepted the special education program review final report. The next regular board meeting is Thursday, April 20.
