Four county races are now on the slate for the August primary, and there will be four races in the November election as well. Filing closed yesterday at the county clerk’s office.

Filing yesterday for Presiding Commissioner were David Michael on the Republican ticket and Lance Critten on the Democratic ticket. Critten will face incumbent Democrat David Tolen in the August primary, while the winner will advance to face Michael in November.
Filing yesterday for Recorder of Deeds were Christy Prather on the Republican ticket and Lori McLaughlin on the Democratic ticket. McLaughlin will face incumbent Georgia Maxwell in the Democratic primary, and the winner will face Prather in November.
Another Primary contest on the Democratic side, as reported earlier, features incumbent prosecuting attorney Julia R. Filley vs. Annie Gibson.
Pam Howard is currently serving as deputy clerk of the Circuit Court. She will face Sue Bird, deputy clerk in the Associate Division of the Circuit Court, for the office of Circuit Clerk in the Democratic primary. The winner will advance to face Republican Nancy Garnett in the General Election. Current Circuit Clerk Linda Adkins is retiring.
For Associate Circuit Judge, incumbent Democrat Daren Adkins will face Independent candidate Mike Arnold in the General Election.
Linda Steward, county clerk, is the only candidate who is running unopposed. She is on the Democratic ticket.
