Funeral services for Duane Heldenbrand were held Monday at the Winston United Methodist Church. Interment was in Winston Cemetery. Arrangements were by Stroup-Thompson Funeral Home, Winston. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Winston United Methodist Church and/or the Winston Cemetery Association.

Duane D. Heldenbrand, 79, Winston, died Wednesday, March 22. Mr. Heldenbrand was born in Winston on Aug. 27, 1926. He was a life-long resident of Winston. He served with the Army during WWII and was a recipient of a Bronze Star. A farmer, he also restored John Deere tractors. He married Ormah Arisman on Oct. 31, 1948. Mr. Heldenbrand was a member of the Winston United Methodist Church, where he served as a member of the board and as Sunday School superintendent. He was also a member of the Winston School Board. Mr. Heldenbrand was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Ina Heldenbrand; and a son, Roger Kent Heldenbrand. Survivors include his wife, Ormah of the home; two sons, Dennis, Jefferson City, and Dwight, Weatherby; one daughter, Vicki Parle, Cameron; four sisters, Thelma Painter, Cameron, Opal Garrett, Spring Hill, Kan., and Doris Creamer and Audrey Heldenbrand, both of Winston; two brothers, A.C., Cameron; and Ronald, Jamestown, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren
