Former resident authors book

Karen Rogers is proud to announce the release of her first novel, Born in the Ashes. This work is her first to be published under the name Elisabeth Kaye, a compilation of Karen’s middle name and her daughter’s. Her daughter, Aimee Rogers Fluitt, edited and embellished Karen’s original work.

Born in the Ashes is the story of a young woman named Emilia who loses a family member in the collapse of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Eager to escape from her sheltered life as the wife of a small-time Mafioso, Emilia seizes the opportunity to fake her death, assume someone else’s identity, and leave New York. With a job, new friends, and a new relationship with a federal prosecutor, she begins to build a life in a small town in Maine, only to have her husband eventually track her down.

The author is originally from Missouri and currently resides in Williamsburg, Virginia. Karen and her husband Tom and daughter Kaitie are former residents of Lake Viking. She is a former employee of the Gallatin Publishing Company and D.H. Davis Drug Co.
