The Soil & Water Conservation District’s Annual Meeting is Monday, March 20, at the Gallatin High School gym. Soil district cooperators and guests are invited to the free catered meal and program. Registration begins at 5 p.m. and dinner is served at 6 p.m. Reservations to attend are accepted until March 14 by calling 660-663-3703, extension 3.
A supervisors election will be held in conjunction with the meeting. Election polls will be open between 5-7 p.m. at the meeting. Cooperators may also vote at the Soil and Water Conservation District Office located in the USDA Service Center at 209 Ash Street, Gallatin, between noon and 4 p.m.
The Outstanding County Cooperator and poster contest winners will be honored.
Doug Mertens, a field sales manager for NK Brand Seeds, will be the evening speaker. Mr. Mertens volunteers as a croplife ambassador for the Mid America Croplife Association. As a croplife ambassador he does presentations for elementary and middle school children about the importance of agriculture. In his spare time Doug enjoys fly-fishing and tying flies. Doug is married and has two children. Doug is a member of The Crossing Church and teaches Sunday School for two-years-old.
Soil and Water Conservation displays and handouts will be available to attendees.
