Marquita Brown began her duties as Director of Nursing on Feb. 27 at the Lake Viking Health Care Center. Marquita has worked many facets of nursing including home health, hospice, correctional medicine, mental health, medical/surgical and E.R. She has been a nurse for 13 years and is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Marquita is married to Brent Brown, who is a carpenter and farmer. They live in Coffey and will soon move to the country to enjoy the quieter side of life. They have five children between them, Mindi, 27, Rick, 26, Carsley, 19, Jamie, 18, and Kelsey, 13. They also have three grandchildren, Wyatt, 8, Sean, 6, and Lillian, 3. Marquita is the daughter of J.T. and Loretta Newby of Pattonsburg.

Marquita’s goals for LVHC are to enhance quality and continuity of resident’s care. To do this, she believes in educating staff and being willing to adapt to change. She states, “I want the public to see and to know that Lake Viking Health Care is a special place for their loved ones. I have worked here as a C.N.A., C.M.T., L.P.N, and now the D.O.N. I’m happy to be back.”
