Jamie Brinnen, an 8th grade student at GHS, was recently recognized for Excellence in Writing from the Missouri State High School Activities Association in their 2005-06 Sportsmanship Essay Contest.
Presenting Jamie with a certificate and prize package for placing first with her essay in the Northwest District was her English teacher, Heather McNeely. The presentation was made during halftime of the varsity girls basketball game Friday night.
Jamie is now eligible for state level judging, and those results will be announced in coming weeks. This year’s essay theme was, "Why is Sportsmanship Important in Interscholastic Athletics?".
