So far … two county primary races
As of today, two local county races have appeared for the August primary. Filing opened yesterday at the county clerk’s office.
Primary contests, so far, are limited to the Democratic ticket. They feature incumbent prosecuting attorney Julia R. Filley vs. Annie Gibson; and two current court clerks, Sue Bird and Pam Howard, vying for Clerk of the Circuit Court. The only candidate to file on the Republican ticket, Nancy Garnett, has also filed for Clerk of the Circuit Court. The current clerk of the Circuit Court, Linda Adkins, is retiring.
For Associate Circuit Judge, incumbent Daren Adkins has filed on the Democratic ticket. Mike Arnold has filed as an Independent candidate.
Other incumbents who filed yesterday for re-election include David Tolen for presiding commissioner, Linda Steward for county clerk, and Georgia Maxwell for recorder.
Filing continues through March 28.
