Graveside services for Russell Stretch will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 3, 2006, at Old Scotland Cemetery, north of Jameson. Open visitation is in progress at the Slater Funeral Home, Trenton. Memorials may be made to the Old Scotland Cemetery.

Russell D. Stretch, 84, Chillicothe, died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006, at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe.

Mr. Stretch was born Jan. 8, 1922, in Jamesport, the son of Richard and Salley Louise Terry Stretch. He attended Scotland Grade School in Jameson and Gallatin High School.

Mr. Stretch was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Navy.

He worked for the Missouri State Highway Department and Howard Construction before retiring.

Mr. Stretch was a member of Old Scotland Church of Christ, north of Jameson.

On July 21, 1942, he was married to Naomi Hobbs at Gallatin.

Mrs. Stretch was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Bernice Troxel, Viola Moulin and Leota Maharge; one brother, Roy Stretch; and an infant daughter, Sandra Lee Stretch.

Survivors include his wife, Naomi, of the home; four daughters, Beverly Thompson of Chillicothe, Bonnie Morin of Chillicothe, Connie Knapp of Camden, Maine, and Patsy Blake of Chillicothe; one son, Terry Stretch of Chillicothe; 12 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
