Green Hills Community Action Agency (GHCAA) has received a grant of $726,319 to rehabilitate and replace aging Meadowview senior apartments in Jamesport, according to a report by Executive Director Scott Long. Mr. Long presented the report at a meeting of the Area Governing Board on Tuesday night, Feb. 8. Mr. Long said the work will begin at Meadowview as soon as the GHCAA finishes Chillicothe projects, probably in mid-summer.
The 2006 Federal Poverty Guidelines were also presented to board members during the meeting. Mr. Long stated that the guidelines are used for the purposes of determining Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) and other program eligibility.
The guidelines establish a household income threshold based on family size. For 2006, a household of one with an income of $9,800 or less; a household of two at or below $13,200; and a household of three members at or below $16,600 would qualify those individuals for services through the CSBG, Family Planning services, and Weatherization programs.
For each additional member in the household, $3,400 or less in income qualifies them for services. Approval was granted by board members to accept the guidelines.
