Funeral services for Kenneth Petty were held at Hammer Memorial United Methodist Church in King City on Sunday. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery, McFall, with military rites by members of the King City American Legion Post No. 132. Arrangements were by Gibson Funeral Home, King City.
Kenneth Loren Petty, Carrollton, formerly King City, died Feb. 1, 2006.
Mr. Petty was born on June 28, 1924, in Pattonsburg. He grew up in King City, before serving in the Navy as a medic during World War II from 1943 to 1946, receiving an honorable discharge.
Mr. Petty then spent several years being self-employed before driving trucks for Western Hatcheries. In 1963, he transferred to Cullum Construction Co. in Dallas, Texas, where he retired after 25 years.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Beth Lane of Plano, Texas; a brother, William R. Petty of King City; a sister, Darlene Taylor of Spokane, Wash.; and his parents, Clarence and Gwendola Petty of King City.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Editha Petty of Carrollton; three sons, Stan Petty of Lawson, Ricky Petty of Richardson, Texas, and David Petty of Carrollton; two daughters, Trudy Dierenfeldt of King City, and Mary Jabin of Carrollton; one stepdaughter, Sharon Hill of Diamond; one sister, Judy Lewis of King City; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
