Larry Hadley, 38, St. Joseph, will begin his new job as administrator for the DeKalb-Daviess County Regional Jail on Feb. 7.
Mr. Hadley was employed with the Missouri Department of Corrections as a correction officer, most recently in St. Joseph. He worked with maximum-security inmates for the last nine years.
The DeKalb-Daviess Regional Jail District is the first of its kind in Missouri. Midwest Security Housing in Pattonsburg, a private jail, will be purchased by the District, probably later this month.
The facility will house approximately 200 male prisoners and 70 female prisoners.
Mr. Hadley will oversee the jail operation. He will work the next few weeks on developing a budget, setting policy, and hiring personnel. The jail’s 78 current employees of Midwest Security Housing will be asked to submit resumes.
Mr. Hadley graduated from the Criminal Justice program at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph with a B.S. degree, with emphasis on Adult Correction.

He and his wife, Heather, have two children, Evan, 5, and Nathaniel, 1 ½. They plan to move to either DeKalb or Daviess County in the near future.
