Funeral services for Reve Shope were held Sunday, Jan. 29, at the La Grange United Methodist Church. A graveside service was held Monday at Highland Cemetery in Hamilton. Arrangements were by Davis Funeral Home, La Grange. The family suggests memorials be made to the La Grange United Methodist Church or Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
Reve Helen Shope, age 87, La Grange, formerly of Hamilton, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.
Mrs. Shope was born April 27, 1918, in Kingston, a daughter of Jesse Harrison and Maud Mae (Russell) Lewellen.
She married Harry Whitley Shope on June 13, 1941, in Nettleton. He died February, 1979.
Mrs. Shope, a retired cosmetologist, was a member of the Hamilton United Methodist Church and Little Queen Rebekah Lodge in La Grange.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Sandra Charlene King; one granddaughter, Micah Jade Alden; five brothers, Russell, Jesse, Glen, Wayne and Guy Lewellen; and a sister, Colleen Swindler.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Reve (Les) Collier of La Grange and Marlene Frances Shope and Dan Masters of Independence; six grandchildren, including Kenny Dale King of Gallatin; and six great-grandchildren, including Mary Frances King of Gallatin.
